Find your Armour size
The correct Armour size is the same as the tire size.
The only difference is that you will have to use a slightly smaller tube than normal.
Tires usually have dimensions written on them. Take a look on the side of your tire. You need to look for the two numbers with an "x" in the middle.
The appropriate size of Tannus Armour corresponds exactly to the size of your tire and all tires within the indicated size range.
Example: Armour 29" x 1.95"- 2.50" is suitable for both 29" x 1.95" and 29" x 2.50" tires as well as all the tires included in this range (29" x 2.20" ; 29" x 2.40"; ect.)

1. Inflate the inner tube slightly
Inflate the inner tube slightly. This makes assembly easier
2. Evaluate the side wing cut
For some tires it is necessary to cut the side wings of the insert slightly so that they do not bend inwards during assembly. Place the insert inside the tire and make sure that the side wings of the insert do not protrude excessively from the tire. If the lateral wings are in excess, use scissors to trim the lateral wing of the insert on both sides
3. Install First Bead of Tire and Armour
Place one side of the tire over the bead of the rim. Insert one side of the Armour inside the tire and over the rim.
4. Insert Inner Tube
Insert the inner tube valve through the rim valve hole. Place the inner tube inside the Tannus Armour. Make sure the Armour wings are not folded.
5. Mount Armour Into the Rim
Place the remaining exposed Armour flap over the rim under the bead.
6. Finish, Check, and Inflate
Secure the remaining side of the tire beading into the rim using a tire lever if needed.
Check that the tire has been installed correctly before inflating. Make sure the tire is not pinching the tube or the Armour between the tire bead and rim.
How to install Armour Insert
Recommended Pressure
Tire pressure is a personal preference depending on size of the rider and riding conditions. However, adding Tannus Armour does allow you to run lower pressure which gives better control, and comfort. We recommend starting out 0,1 - 0,5 BAR lower than what you normally ride and go up or down from there based on the ride feel you enjoy.
Most common questions about Armour
Tannus Armour is an insert that sits underneath the tire and over the tube. It offers puncture resistance, comfort, and enhanced riding capabilities.
Tannus Armour is made of a patented material called Aither. It’s a high quality foam-like polymer that offers vibration damping, a smoother ride, and puncture resistance.
Without Tannus Armour, your inner tube is much more exposed to sharp objects and debris. Your rim can also be damaged from hard impacts. Tannus Armour protects both your inner tube and your rim.
We recommend not running the Armour in a tubeless set-up. By using a tube you get improved puncture resistance and the full benefits of a smoother ride and no-hassle that you don’t get with tubeless.
We offer Tannus Tubeless for tubeless set-ups. You can finding it by clicking here.
No, the insert is designed to be used exclusively with an inner tube. Sealant, in addition to being detrimental to the insert and its durability, would have no additional use. In fact, by using the traditional inner tube and Armour you prevent pinching, side cuts, the burp effect and many ruined clothes. It is also advisable to clean the inside of the tire to remove any sealant residue inside it.
Yes, Armour is hockless rim compatible.
Tannus Armour weighs between 190-500 grams depending on the size. It provides 13-15mm of protection at it's thickest point and 2-5mm of sidewall protection.
One of the great features of the Tannus Armour is that if you get a flat during the ride you can ride a few miles without hurting your rim.* However, if you do get a flat please avoid rougher terrain.
*Does not apply to the follow sizes: 20x3.0-4.0, 20x4.1-4.8, and 26x4.0-4.8.

The Armour will compress some after it’s installed depending on the pressure of the tire. The higher the pressure the more condensed the Armour will become. If you wish to keep the Armour as thick as possible then maintain a lower Bar. You may also deflate your tire if you’re not going to be riding for a longer period. This allows the Armour to rebound back to its original size.
While they were designed for mountain bikes and gravel bikes, they are great for your commuter and road bikes. They will help with the puncture resistance and overall comfort.
It would be better to keep the valve as less tight as possible or even not put it at all.
